Today I Learned…

…that peeling scotch tape in a vacuum produces X-rays.

Scientists aren’t quite sure how or why yet, but apparently it has something to do with the two surfaces rubbing against eachother.  You don’t have to worry, because the effect does not happen in an environment with an atmosphere.  The rays produced are powerful enough to take a picture of your hand bones, however!

I also learned that my friend Xannie will be helping me and my hemi-demi-semi twin with our Halloween/stage costume of Doctor Horrible!  She’s going to do a bang-up job, I’m sure.

Today I Learned…

…that stained glass painted with gold apparently helps to purify the air when the sun shines through them.  (This from www.nanitenews.com)

Small particles of gold become extremely active when charged by sunlight, and they are able to react with and destroy so-called volatile organic chemicals (VOCs).

I guess this is an example of the church randomly happening on some science!  Love it.

Special bonus knowledge: I learned today that it’s possible for me to go an entire day while only receiving emails either from or about Barack Obama.
