Today I Learned…

***Special Sunday Doublepak***

…that someone took the time to create an imaginary mini expansion set of Magic cards themed around the election.  See them here.

Example:

Also, I learned all of the words to “Hail to the Redskins” after we beat our hated rivals the Cowboys tonight.  The current lyrics are as follows:

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath!
Fight for old D.C.!
Run or pass and score — we want a lot more!
Beat ’em, Swamp ’em,
Touchdown! — Let the points soar!
Fight on, fight on ‘Til you have won
Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath!
Fight for old D.C.!

…the original lyrics contained such gems as “Scalp ‘em, Swamp ‘em. We will take‘em big score. Read ‘em, weep ‘em Touchdown, we want heap more,” instead of what you see here, as well as “Dixie” instead of “D.C.”

Yeah, I’m a bit ashamed to be a Redskins fan.  Why?

Today I Learned…

…the Korean drinking game!  Everyone sits in a circle with a beverage.  One person says a yearbook-style superlative, like “most likely to be successful,” or “most likely to die in a manner which would get them on the front page of the local newspaper.”  Then everyone taps on their knees for a three-count, then points at the person they think fits the statement.  The person who gets the most votes must drink.  However, if you think that you will get the most votes, you may block by crossing your arms over your chest.  If you block and get the most votes, everyone who voted for you has to drink.  If you block and didn’t get the most votes, you have to drink.

Obviously more fun if you have a bunch of people who all know eachother fairly well, but still.  Good times.

Today I Learned…

…that I’m halfway decent at Rock Band, to the point where I won’t embarrass myself on any of the instruments.  Depending on the song, I can sing up to hard, I can definitely guitar up to hard (didn’t want to  try expert without knowing the songs first), and I can passably drum up to medium (didn’t try hard).  Lots of fun, and thanks to work friends Joe and Crystal for their hospitality for hosting the work barbecue tonight.

Today I Learned…

…how to solve a Rubik’s Cube.  I picked one up today, as it’s been something that I’ve been kind of off-again-on-again thinking about learning how to do for a while.  I have a few friends who are pretty good at it, and I’ve always felt that I could do it too.

I’m still learning the algorithms and comitting them to memory, and I don’t think I’ll be doing it quickly any time soon, but I did just solve it from a random scramble.  =)
